Ulster Mead Co. – Donegal’s First Meadery
Ulster Mead Co. was founded in 2021 in Convoy, County Donegal, with a simple idea — to bring one of the world’s oldest drinks back to life in a modern way.
With a background in the food industry and a passion for craft production, we began experimenting with mead to create something different. What started as small test batches quickly grew into a dedicated meadery, focused on quality, consistency, and innovation.
We focus on clean, well-balanced mead made from high-quality honey, using careful fermentation and minimal intervention. Alongside traditional mead, we developed Ireland’s first coffee mead, Ireland’s first hibiscus mead as well as a unique range of herbal wines made from botanicals.
Everything we produce is made in Convoy, Co. Donegal. As Donegal’s first meadery, we are proud to create something local, distinctive, and rooted in place.
Mead is still a niche product in Ireland, but that’s what makes it exciting. Through tastings, collaborations, and storytelling, we’re helping introduce people to something new — and bringing mead back into modern drinking culture.
Through our craft, we aim to position Co. Donegal as a destination for exceptional beverages, combining local character with international quality.
